Digoxin Intravenous and Epoprostenol Sodium
Determining the interaction of Digoxin Intravenous and Epoprostenol Sodium and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Epoprostenol may decrease clearance of oral digoxin. The mechanism has not been determined. Theoretically, this interaction could lead to higher digoxin plasma concentrations and could potentiate toxicity. One pilot study noted a 15% decrease in clearance (which was statistically significant) on day 3 of administration. However, this change was not apparent by day 87. The change in digoxin clearance would not be expected to be clinically significant, except possibly in patients with higher baseline digoxin levels. Epoprostenol and digoxin have been used safely together during epoprostenol clinical trials.
