Digoxin oral/injection and Gentamicin Sodium Chloride
Determining the interaction of Digoxin oral/injection and Gentamicin Sodium Chloride and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Animal data show that serum digoxin levels increase after administration of nontoxic doses of gentamicin. The digoxin doses were five times that usually recommended for healthy human adults with normal renal function (on a per kg basis). Signs of digoxin toxicity were not apparent until toxic doses of gentamicin were given. These data may not apply to humans, and the clinical relevance is not clear. At this time, no significant clinical interaction is suspected in humans.
