Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.

Professional:

Hydantoins may increase the hepatic metabolism of intravenous lidocaine. Serum lidocaine levels may be decreased, and increased dosage may be necessary. Caution is recommended, however, since the possible myocardial-depressant effects of both drugs may be additive. Hemodynamic and electrocardiographic status should be monitored during therapy. No action is required unless an interaction is suspected.
