Adjunctive therapy in the management of diarrhea.

Symptomatic treatment of mild or uncomplicated travelers’ diarrhea, including that occurring in adult travelers with HIV infection. Should not be used in travelers with severe diarrhea or with high fever or blood in the stools; these travelers may benefit from short-term treatment with an anti-infective (e.g., a fluoroquinolone).

Ineffective for prevention of travelers’ diarrhea; may increase incidence of travelers’ diarrhea.

Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose) is an iron replacement product. You normally get iron from the foods you eat. Iron helps your body produce red blood cells that carry oxygen through your blood to tissues and organs.

Injectafer is used in adults to treat iron deficiency anemia (a lack of red blood cells caused by having too little iron in the body).

Injectafer is usually given after oral (taken by mouth) iron replacement medicines have been tried without success.
