Reduction of elevated IOP in patients with open-angle glaucoma. Used alone or in conjunction with other IOP-lowering drugs. May be used as initial therapy or for control of IOP in those patients who have not responded adequately to other antiglaucoma agents.

May be preferred as an alternative to topical epinephrine in some patients (e.g., those with cardiovascular disease) because of increased intraocular penetration (lower doses are needed) and resultant decreased adverse systemic effects (e.g., cardiovascular effects) compared with epinephrine.

Does not produce miosis, accommodative spasm, blurred vision, or night blindness. Less likely than epinephrine to cause adenochrome staining of contact lenses.

Has been used to reduce IOP in the treatment of other ocular conditions, including ocular hypertension and pseudoexfoliative, low-tension, and secondary (e.g., post-angle closure, pigmentary, traumatic, herpes zoster) glaucomas.

Ethinyl estradiol and ethynodiol diacetate combination is used to prevent pregnancy. It is a birth control pill that contains two types of hormones, ethinyl estradiol and ethynodiol diacetate, and when taken properly, prevents pregnancy. It works by stopping a woman's egg from fully developing each month. The egg can no longer accept a sperm and fertilization (pregnancy) is prevented.

No contraceptive method is 100 percent effective. Birth control methods such as having surgery to become sterile or not having sex are more effective than birth control pills. Discuss your options for birth control with your doctor.

This medicine does not prevent HIV infection or other sexually transmitted diseases. It will not help as emergency contraception, such as after unprotected sexual contact.
