Dopamine Hydrochloride and Hydrochlorothiazide and propranolol
Determining the interaction of Dopamine Hydrochloride and Hydrochlorothiazide and propranolol and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Beta-blockers like propranolol may reduce the effects of vasopressors like DOPamine. If you have been using propranolol, you may not respond as well to vasopressors given to treat an emergency such as shock or a severe allergic reaction. Your healthcare provider should always be told if you are receiving, or have recently received, beta-blocker therapy. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Beta-blockers may antagonize the cardiostimulatory effects of pressor agents by blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart. Vasopressors may be less effective if the patient is receiving, or has recently received, a beta-blocking drug. In addition, peripheral vascular resistance may increase due to unopposed alpha-adrenergic effects of pressor agents in the presence of beta-blockade. Theoretically, the interaction may also occur with beta-blocker ophthalmic preparations, since they may be systemically absorbed and can produce clinically significant systemic effects even at low or undetectable plasma levels.
MANAGEMENT: No specific intervention is necessary, but clinicians should be alert to the potential for diminished cardiac response when pressor agents are used in patients treated with beta-blockers, including ophthalmic formulations. A beta-blocker such as propranolol may be used to treat cardiac arrhythmias that occur during administration of pressor agents like mephentermine, metaraminol, norepinephrine, or phenylephrine.
