Doxepin Hydrochloride and Loteprednol Etabonate

Treatment of depression and/or anxiety in psychoneurotic patients. Psychoneurosis symptoms that respond well to doxepin include anxiety, tension, depression, somatic symptoms and concerns, sleep disturbances, guilt, lack of energy, fear, apprehension, and worry.

Treatment of depression and/or anxiety associated with alcoholism. (See Specific Drugs under Interactions.)

Treatment of depression and/or anxiety associated with organic disease; consider possible drug interactions if receiving other drugs concomitantly.

Treatment of psychotic depressive disorders with associated anxiety, including involutional depression and manic-depressive disorders.

Has been effective in the management of chronic idiopathic urticaria and may be used as an alternative to antihistamines, which are generally considered first-line therapy in patients with this condition.

Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic (hay fever, pollinosis) conjunctivitis.

Symptomatic relief of corticosteroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the globe (i.e., allergic conjunctivitis, acne rosacea keratitis, superficial punctate keratitis, herpes zoster keratitis, iritis, and cyclitis. Use in conjunction with appropriate anti-infective therapy in some cases of conjunctival infection, when the benefits of reducing edema and inflammation outweigh the risks associated with use of topical corticosteroids.

Loteprednol etabonate 0.5% less effective than prednisolone acetate 1% in the management of anterior uveitis.

Treatment of postoperative ocular inflammation following ocular surgery.

Used in fixed combination with tobramycin in certain bacterial ocular infections.
