Doxorubicin (Conventional) and Paclitaxel protein-bound Intravenous
Determining the interaction of Doxorubicin (Conventional) and Paclitaxel protein-bound Intravenous and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using DOXOrubicin together with PACLitaxel protein-bound may cause inflammation of the cecum which is part of the colon. Contact your doctor if you experience increased side effects or if your condition changes. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Two cases of typhlitis (neutropenic enterocolitis) have occurred in patients with metastatic breast cancer following combined treatment with paclitaxel and doxorubicin given simultaneously as 72-hour continuous intravenous infusions, while typhlitis has not been described after treatment with either drug alone. The mechanism of interaction is unknown. These drugs have been used together for the treatment of some cancers. More data are needed.
MANAGEMENT: Close monitoring for clinical and laboratory evidence of adverse effects is recommended during coadministration of paclitaxel and doxorubicin. In vitro data have shown that sequential administration in which paclitaxel is followed by doxorubicin may be the most effective and suitable.
