GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with rifampin may reduce the bioavailability of edoxaban. The proposed mechanism is rifampin induction of the P-glycoprotein efflux transporter, of which edoxaban is a substrate. According to the product labeling, rifampin decreased single-dose edoxaban systemic exposure (AUC) by approximately 35%.

MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of edoxaban with rifampin should generally be avoided.
