Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Macrolide antibiotics may increase the plasma concentrations of loratadine through inhibition of CYP450 3A4 or 2D6 enzymes. Loratadine levels may increase by 40% when coadministered with erythromycin. Clinical monitoring of patient response and tolerance is recommended when macrolides are administered with non-sedating antihistamines. Azithromycin and dirithromycin are not expected to affect loratadine levels and may be considered as alternatives.
