Epinephrine is a chemical that narrows blood vessels and opens airways in the lungs. These effects can reverse severe low blood pressure, wheezing, severe skin itching, hives, and other symptoms of an allergic reaction.

EpiPen 2-Pak is used to treat severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) to insect stings or bites, foods, drugs, and other allergens.

Epinephrine auto-injectors may be kept on hand for self-injection by a person with a history of severe allergic reaction.

Epinephrine is also used to treat exercise-induced anaphylaxis, or to treat low blood pressure that is caused by septic shock.

Farydak (panobinostat) is a cancer medicine that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.

Farydak is used in combination with other drugs to treat multiple myeloma. It is usually given after other cancer medicines have been tried without success.

Farydak was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on an "accelerated" basis. In clinical studies, the medicine slowed progression of the disease. However, it has not been shown that Farydak can improve symptoms or lengthen survival time.
