Consumer:Using carBAMazepine together with rocuronium may decrease the effects of rocuronium. Close observation is recommended if you are using both medications. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Carbamazepine may reduce the effects or duration of nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents. The mechanism is unknown.
MANAGEMENT: Close observation for decreased neuromuscular blocking effect is recommended if a patient on carbamazepine must receive a nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent.
