Consumer:

Using carBAMazepine together with zaleplon may decrease the effects of zaleplon. Contact your doctor if your condition changes. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Some drugs that are strong inducers of hepatic CYP450 3A4 enzymes may decrease zaleplon plasma concentration and result in loss of efficacy. Zaleplon is partially metabolized by this metabolic isoenzyme.

MANAGEMENT: Clinical monitoring of patient response and tolerance is recommended and zaleplon dosage adjustments may be required. An alternative hypnotic may be considered. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience loss of efficacy.
