In addition, sodium ferric gluconate complex may interfere with the absorption of iron taken by mouth. You may need to wait at least 5 days after stopping sodium ferric gluconate complex before taking oral iron supplements. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

GENERALLY AVOID: Parenteral iron therapy may reduce the absorption of concomitantly administered oral iron preparations.

MANAGEMENT: Parenteral iron preparations should not be administered concomitantly with oral iron preparations. Patients should wait at least 5 days after stopping parenteral iron therapy before taking oral iron supplements.
