Using magnesium hydroxide together with TOLAZamide can increase the effects of TOLAZamide. TOLAZamide should be administered at least two hours before or after magnesium hydroxide. You should be advised to regularly monitor your blood sugar and counseled on how to recognize and treat hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which may include symptoms such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nervousness, confusion, tremor, hunger, weakness, perspiration, and palpitations. You may need a dose adjustment or blood sugar checked more often to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Some antacids may significantly increase the absorption rate and in some cases the extent of absorption of oral sulfonylureas. The hypoglycemic effects of these agents may be altered.

MANAGEMENT: Sulfonylureas should be administered at least two hours before or after antacids.
