Consumer:

Ask your doctor before using coagulation factor VIIa together with factor IX complex. Using these medications together may increase your risk of developing a blood clot. Call your doctor promptly if you have any signs of blood clots such as chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden loss of vision, or pain, redness or swelling in an extremity. You may need a dose adjustment in addition to testing of your prothrombin time or International Normalized Ratio (INR). It is important that you tell your healthcare provider about all other medications that you are using including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without talking to your doctor first.

Professional:

GENERALLY AVOID: The risk of a potential interaction between coagulation factor VIIa and coagulation factor concentrates has not been adequately evaluated in preclinical or clinical studies. Theoretically, patients receiving concomitant therapy may have an increased risk of developing thrombotic events.

MANAGEMENT: Product labeling for coagulation factor VIIa recommends that simultaneous use of activated or nonactivated prothrombin complex concentrates be avoided.
