Consumer:

Using cloZAPine together with PARoxetine may increase the effects of cloZAPine. Contact your doctor if you experience confusion, fast heart rate, drowsiness, drooling, weak or shallow breathing, feeling like you might pass out, and seizure (convulsions). If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Clozapine serum levels and associated toxicity may be increased with the concomitant use of certain selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The proposed mechanism is inhibition of the metabolism of clozapine by CYP450 1A2 and/or 2D6.

MANAGEMENT: Patients should be monitored for altered efficacy and safety (e.g., worsening of psychosis/obsessive-compulsive symptoms, seizures, and orthostatic hypotension). Dose adjustments may be required if an interaction is suspected.
