Colesevelam may interfere with the absorption of fenofibric acid when these medications are taken at the same time. This may reduce the blood levels and effects of fenofibric acid. To prevent or minimize the interaction, fenofibric acid should be taken at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after the colesevelam dose. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Theoretically, bile acid sequestrants may bind to and decrease the gastrointestinal absorption of fenofibrate/fenofibric acid.

MANAGEMENT: Fenofibrate/fenofibric acid should be taken at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after the bile acid sequestrant.
