Coadministration of furosemide and tamsulosin appears to have no significant effects on either drug. In ten healthy volunteers, administration of a single 20 mg intravenous dose of furosemide in combination with tamsulosin 0.8 mg/day to steady state had no effect on the pharmacodynamics of furosemide as measured by excretion of electrolytes. While furosemide produced an 11% to 12% reduction in tamsulosin peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC), these changes are not expected to be clinically significant and do not require adjustment of the tamsulosin dosage.
