Consumer:

Using fluorouracil together with SORAfenib may increase the effects of fluorouracil. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or if you experience extreme fatigue, easy bruising or bleeding, black, bloody or tarry stools, fever, chills, sores in the mouth or throat, severe vomiting or diarrhea. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

MONITOR: Coadministration with sorafenib may alter the plasma concentrations of fluorouracil. Both increases (21% to 47%) and decreases (10%) in fluorouracil systemic exposure (AUC) have been observed. The mechanism of interaction has not been described.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if fluorouracil is prescribed in combination with sorafenib. Patients should be monitored closely for altered efficacy or potential toxicities of fluorouracil such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, stomatitis, esophagopharyngitis, gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding, and diarrhea.
