Symptomatic management of psychotic disorders (i.e., schizophrenia).

The long-acting decanoate ester is used mainly for maintenance therapy in patients with chronic schizophrenic disorder who cannot be relied on to take oral antipsychotic drugs; do not use for acute management of severely agitated patients.

Efficacy not established for management of behavioral complications in mental retardation.

Hydroxyprogesterone caproate injection is a man-made progestin hormone. It is used in pregnant women to help lower the risk of giving birth too early (preterm birth or giving birth less than 37 weeks of pregnancy). Hydroxyprogesterone is given only to pregnant women who are pregnant with one baby and who have had a preterm delivery of one baby in the past.
