Fluvoxamine Extended-Release Capsules and Qualaquin
Determining the interaction of Fluvoxamine Extended-Release Capsules and Qualaquin and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Coadministration with fluvoxamine does not appear to significantly alter the pharmacokinetics of quinine. Although fluvoxamine is a moderate inhibitor of CYP450 3A4 and quinine is metabolized by this pathway to its major metabolite, 3-hydroxyquinine, a study of nine healthy volunteers found no effect on mean quinine systemic exposure (AUC) when a single 500 mg oral dose of quinine hydrochloride was administered in combination with fluvoxamine 25 mg twice daily for 2 days. There was also no significant change in the mean AUC of any of the three known metabolites, including 3-hydroxyquinine.
