Determining the interaction of Forane and Levophed and the possibility of their joint administration.

Check result:
Forane <> Levophed
Relevance: 12.05.2023 Reviewer: Shkutko P.M., M.D., in

In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.

Consumer:

Ask your doctor before using isoflurane together with norepinephrine. Taking these drugs together can affect the rhythm of your heart. Call your doctor if you have symptoms of irregular heartbeat, chest tightness, blurred vision, nausea, and seizures. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

GENERALLY AVOID: The combination of norepinephrine and some anesthetics has resulted in ventricular irritability, serious cardiac arrhythmias, or death. The halogenated anesthetics sensitize the heart to the arrhythmogenic effects of catecholamines.

MANAGEMENT: This combination should be avoided or used very cautiously. If a halogenated anesthetic and norepinephrine must be used together, very low doses of norepinephrine concentrations are recommended and the patient's hemodynamic status should be closely monitored.
