Using zidovudine together with foscarnet can increase the blood levels or add to the side effects of either medication. Contact your doctor if you experience fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, headache, weakness, pale skin, and easy bruising or bleeding. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. MONITOR: The potential bone marrow toxicity of foscarnet and zidovudine may be additive. Concomitant therapy may therefore increase the risk of anemia and other forms of myelosuppression.

MANAGEMENT: Patients should be closely monitored for evidence of hematologic effects (e.g., granulocytopenia, anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia).
