Gengraf (Cyclosporine Oral Solution, Modified) and Tegretol (Carbamazepine Oral Suspension)
Determining the interaction of Gengraf (Cyclosporine Oral Solution, Modified) and Tegretol (Carbamazepine Oral Suspension) and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Ask your doctor before using carBAMazepine together with cycloSPORINE. Using these medications together can make cycloSPORINE less effective. Given the risk of organ rejection associated with low cycloSPORINE levels, caution is advised if carBAMazepine must be taken with cycloSPORINE. You may need a dose adjustment or special test if you take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:GENERALLY AVOID: Carbamazepine may decrease cyclosporine serum concentrations to subtherapeutic levels due to induction of hepatic metabolism of cyclosporine.
MANAGEMENT: This combination should be avoided in patients where maintenance of therapeutic cyclosporine levels is critical. Cyclosporine serum concentrations should be monitored when carbamazepine is added to or discontinued from the patient's regimen, or when the carbamazepine dosage is changed. Patients should be carefully monitored for lack of therapeutic effect. The dosage of cyclosporine may need to be increased.
