Consumer:

Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.

Professional:

Animal studies (rats and mice) have shown that pretreatment with phenobarbital significantly reduces the antitumor activity of lomustine. The mechanism may involve a markedly enhanced rate of drug elimination from the plasma, probably as a result of microsomal-enzyme induction by phenobarbital. This interaction has been documented with carmustine, a related nitrosourea. Until further data are available, no specific precautions are recommended.
