Humatrope and Lurasidone

Somatropin may reduce the blood levels of lurasidone, which may make the medication less effective in some cases. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

MONITOR: Coadministration with inducers of CYP450 3A4 may decrease the plasma concentrations of lurasidone, which is primarily metabolized by the isoenzyme. In a pharmacokinetic study, administration of a single 40 mg dose of lurasidone with the potent CYP450 3A4 inducer rifampin (600 mg/day for 8 days) resulted in an 86% decrease in lurasidone peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and an 80% decrease in systemic exposure (AUC) compared to administration alone. Therapeutic failure may occur. The interaction has not been studied with other, less potent inducers.

MANAGEMENT: The potential for diminished pharmacologic effects of lurasidone should be considered during coadministration with CYP450 3A4 inducers. Alternative treatments may be required if an interaction is suspected.
