Consumer:Pentoxifylline may enhance the blood pressure lowering effects of hydroCHLOROthiazide. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Pentoxifylline may potentiate the action of hypotensive agents. Small decreases in blood pressure have been observed in some patients treated with pentoxifylline plus nifedipine or captopril. The mechanism of interaction has not been described.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if pentoxifylline is used in combination with hypotensive agents. Periodic systemic blood pressure monitoring is recommended.
