Hydrocortisone (Systemic) and Narcan
Determining the interaction of Hydrocortisone (Systemic) and Narcan and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:A possible synergy was noted in a patient given a normal dose of naloxone followed by a 200 mg dose of hydrocortisone. In this case, naloxone was given for obtundation with minimal effect. The hydrocortisone was given in the same intravenous line approximately two minutes after the naloxone. Immediately after the hydrocortisone was given, the patient became alert. It is not known whether this effect was truly the result of a drug interaction.
