MONITOR: Thioxanthines may antagonize the hypotensive effect of some peripherally acting antiadrenergic agents. Loss of blood pressure control is possible. Data are available for guanethidine and thiothixene.

MANAGEMENT: Close blood pressure monitoring is recommended. Increased antihypertensive dosages may be necessary. Alternative antihypertensive therapy may be considered.
