MONITOR: The combination of inhaled nitric oxide with intravenous sildenafil has been used investigationally for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. Clinical data are limited and conflicting. Beneficial effects on pulmonary arterial pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance have been reported in adults. However, one study with infants observed significant hypotension and reductions in arterial oxygenation and alveolar-arterial gradients.

MANAGEMENT: If concurrent use is necessary, monitoring of hemodynamics, pulmonary function, and oxygenation is advisable according to current practice guidelines.
