Consumer:

Using niMODipine together with ritonavir is not recommended. Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels and effects of niMODipine. This may increase the risk of serious side effects such as irregular heart rhythm, fluid retention, swelling, heart failure, and excessively low blood pressure. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

CONTRAINDICATED: Coadministration with potent inhibitors of CYP450 3A4 may significantly increase the plasma concentrations and blood pressure lowering effect of nimodipine, which is primarily metabolized by CYP450 3A4 in the intestinal mucosa and liver.

MANAGEMENT: The use of nimodipine in combination with potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitors such as itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole, voriconazole, conivaptan, nefazodone, delavirdine, protease inhibitors, and ketolide and certain macrolide antibiotics is considered contraindicated because of a risk of significant hypotension.
