Lanoxin Pediatric Intravenous and Lipitor
Determining the interaction of Lanoxin Pediatric Intravenous and Lipitor and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Before taking digoxin, tell your doctor if you also use atorvastatin. You may need dose adjustments or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. This combination may alter your digoxin levels. You should notify your doctor if you have symptoms of nausea, loss of appetite, visual changes, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats. It is important that you tell your healthcare provider about all other medications that you are using including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor first.
Professional:MONITOR: Atorvastatin (80 mg) has been shown to increase the plasma digoxin concentration by approximately 20% (less than 0.3 ng/mL). The mechanism has not been clearly established, however, inhibition of intestinal P-glycoprotein digoxin secretion has been suggested.
MANAGEMENT: Clinical monitoring of patient response, including laboratory serum digoxin levels, is recommended. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience anorexia, nausea, visual disturbances, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats.
