Consumer:Treatment with bimatoprost topical ophthalmic may interfere with the pressure-lowering effect of latanoprostene bunod ophthalmic in the eye. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. You may need more frequent eye examinations to safely use these medications together. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: In patients using bimatoprost or other prostaglandin analogs for the treatment of intraocular hypertension, the concomitant use of bimatoprost 0.03% ophthalmic solution to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes may interfere with the desired reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP). In clinical trials, bimatoprost 0.03% solution applied topically to the upper eyelid margin lowered IOP in both patients with or without elevated IOP, although the magnitude of the reduction was not cause for clinical concern. In previous studies of bimatoprost for the treatment of ocular hypertension, it has been shown that exposure of the eye to more than one dose of bimatoprost daily may decrease the IOP-lowering effect. Therefore, topical administration of bimatoprost to the eyelid in conjunction with ocular instillation of IOP-lowering prostaglandin analogs may decrease the IOP-lowering effect in ocular hypertensive patients.
MANAGEMENT: Patients using these products concomitantly should be closely monitored for changes to their intraocular pressure.
