Professional:Coadministration with cimetidine may slightly increase the plasma concentrations of voriconazole. In 12 healthy male subjects, cimetidine (400 mg every 12 hours for 8 days) increased the steady-state peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) of voriconazole (200 mg orally every 12 hours for 7 days) by an average of 18% and 23%, respectively, compared to placebo. Cimetidine had no effect on the half-life of voriconazole. In addition, adverse events were similar during coadministration with cimetidine or placebo. No particular action or caution is required, as this interaction is unlikely to be of clinical significance.
