Levodopa/Carbidopa and Nortriptyline Capsules
Determining the interaction of Levodopa/Carbidopa and Nortriptyline Capsules and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Tricyclic antidepressants may slightly reduce the serum concentrations of levodopa and carbidopa and reduce their effects. The mechanism may be related to slowed gastric emptying and increased gastric degradation. Anecdotal reports also suggest that coadministration of tricyclic antidepressants and levodopa or carbidopa may occasionally result in hypertensive episodes; however, causality was not clearly established. The mechanism is unknown. Until more information is available, it may be prudent to monitor patients for altered efficacy and safety.
