Propafenone minimally inhibits the hepatic metabolism of lidocaine. Increased plasma concentrations of lidocaine may entail worse nervous system side effects of longer duration. The patient should be monitored for nervous system side effects such as dysgeusia, paresthesias, and light-headedness. During coadministration, hemodynamic status should be monitored and lidocaine dosage should be reduced as necessary.
