Lithium Carbonate and Topcare Aspirin
Determining the interaction of Lithium Carbonate and Topcare Aspirin and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Consumer information for this minor interaction is not currently available. Some minor drug interactions may not be clinically relevant in all patients. Minor drug interactions do not usually cause harm or require a change in therapy. However, your healthcare provider can determine if adjustments to your medications are needed.
Professional:Most studies have shown that aspirin and other salicylates do not significantly affect the serum concentrations of lithium. However, one study reported a 22% reduction in lithium clearance in six healthy female subjects given intravenous sodium salicylate, and another study reported a 32% increase in mean serum lithium level in a healthy subject given aspirin for 5 days. In general, no particular precaution should be necessary when lithium is coadministered with salicylates.
