MONITOR: Methylxanthines may antagonize the effects of neuromuscular blockers. The mechanism is unknown. In patients stabilized on aminophylline, resistance to pancuronium has been reported.

MANAGEMENT: The patient should be monitored for adequate neuromuscular blockade and the dosage adjusted, if necessary.
