Lyrica CR is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It works by slowing down impulses in the brain that cause seizures. This medicine also affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system.

Lyrica CR is used to treat pain caused by fibromyalgia, or nerve pain in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy), herpes zoster (post-herpetic neuralgia), or spinal cord injury.

Lyrica CR is also used with other medications to treat partial onset seizures in adults and children who are at least 4 years old.

Consider potential benefits and risks of meclofenamate sodium therapy as well as alternative therapies before initiating therapy with the drug. Use lowest effective dosage and shortest duration of therapy consistent with the patient’s treatment goals.

Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Has been used with some success in a limited number of adults with ankylosing spondylitis or acute gouty arthritis.

Has been used in a limited number of patients with psoriatic arthritis.

Relief of mild to moderate pain in adults.

Treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.

Treatment of idiopathic menorrhagia. Use only for heavy menstrual flow that is idiopathic (i.e., no underlying pathophysiologic cause can be identified); do not use for the management of spotting or bleeding that occurs between menstrual cycles.

Use for primary dysmenorrhea or idiopathic menorrhagia only when the potential benefits justify the possible risks.
