Methenamine, Sodium Phosphate Monobasic, Phenyl Salicylate, Methylene Blue, and Hyoscyamine and Sulfadiazine
Determining the interaction of Methenamine, Sodium Phosphate Monobasic, Phenyl Salicylate, Methylene Blue, and Hyoscyamine and Sulfadiazine and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Using methenamine together with sulfADIAZINE is not recommended. Combining these medications may cause crystals to form in the urine. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:CONTRAINDICATED: Some sulfonamides can form an insoluble precipitate with formaldehyde, which is generated from the hydrolysis of methenamine in acidic urine maintained by the presence of hippuric acid.
MANAGEMENT: Methenamine preparations should not be given to patients taking sulfonamides due to the risk of crystalluria. An alkalinizing agent should not be added because this may render methenamine less effective.
