Methyl aminolevulinate is used with photodynamic therapy (light treatment) to treat actinic keratosis (AK) on the face and scalp. Actinic keratoses are skin lesions or growths in areas where the skin has been exposed to the sun. AK normally occurs in older patients with light-colored skin. Methyl aminolevulinate is only used for AK skin lesions that are thin and light in color.

Pyrilamine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Dextromethorphan, phenylephrine, and pyrilamine is a combination medicine used to treat cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes caused by allergies, the common cold, or the flu.

dextromethorphan, phenylephrine, and pyrilamine will not treat a cough that is caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.
