Metronidazole is an antibiotic that fights bacteria.

Metronidazole is used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach or intestines, liver, skin, joints, brain, heart, and respiratory tract. Metrogel (topical metronidazole) is also used to treat rosacea, a skin condition. Vaginal metronidazole gel is also used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina.

Metronidazole will not treat a vaginal yeast infection.

Zetran is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen). This medicine affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with certain conditions.

Zetran is used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms. This medicine injection is also used to treat a seizure emergency called status epilepticus.

Zetran is sometimes used as a sedative to help you relax before having surgery or other medical procedure.
