If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. Professional:MONITOR: Rifampin may decrease the plasma concentrations of mexiletine by inducing its CYP450 hepatic metabolism.
MANAGEMENT: Patients receiving both drugs should be monitored for inadequate response to mexiletine. Mexiletine dosage should be increased as necessary.
