Consumer:

Miconazole topical may increase the blood levels and effects of segesterone. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact or you may need more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience increased side effects. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Professional:

GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration of the combination product segesterone-ethinyl estradiol vaginal ring system with oil-based miconazole vaginal suppositories or oil-based (including silicone-based) vaginal lubricants may increase the plasma concentrations of both ethinyl estradiol and segesterone. The mechanism of the interaction has not been delineated. Concomitant use of the 1-day or 3-day oil-based miconazole suppository resulted in an overall increase in exposure up to 67% for ethinyl estradiol and 32% for segesterone; while use of the water-based vaginal miconazole cream did not affect exposure of ethinyl estradiol or segesterone from the vaginal ring system.

MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of oil-based miconazole vaginal suppositories or oil-based vaginal lubricants with segesterone-ethinyl estradiol vaginal ring system is not recommended. If treatment is required for a vaginal condition, water-based miconazole vaginal cream, oral therapy, or water-based vaginal lubricants should be considered.
