Before using doxycycline, tell your doctor if you also use phenytoin. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. MANAGEMENT: Patients should be monitored for altered doxycycline efficacy. It may be necessary to increase doxycycline dosage. Alternative antimicrobial therapy with a different tetracycline or a different class of antimicrobial agent may be preferable.
