Pitavastatin is used together with a proper diet to treat high cholesterol levels and triglyceride (fat) levels in the blood. This medicine may help prevent medical problems (eg, heart attacks, strokes) that are caused by fat clogging the blood vessels.

Pitavastatin belongs to the group of medicines called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or statins. It works to reduce the amount of cholesterol in the blood by blocking an enzyme that is needed to make cholesterol.

This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Topamax Sprinkle is a seizure medicine, also called an anticonvulsant. This medicine is used to treat seizures in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Trokendi XR is for use in adults and children who are at least 6 years old.

Some brands of topiramate are also used to prevent migraine headaches in adults and teenagers who are at least 12 years old. These medicines will only prevent migraine headaches or reduce the number of attacks, but will not treat a headache that has already begun.
