Determining the interaction of Nizoral and Rescriptor and the possibility of their joint administration.

Consumer:Using delavirdine together with ketoconazole may increase the effects of delavirdine. Contact your doctor if you experience sore throat, headache, rash, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, or any other signs of new infection. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:MONITOR: Trough concentrations of delavirdine are increased by as much as 50% when it is used in combination with ketoconazole. The mechanism of the interaction is unknown.
MANAGEMENT: No specific dosage adjustments are suggested, however, close clinical monitoring for signs of delavirdine toxicity (rash, fever, blood and chemistry abnormalities) is recommended.
