Capsaicin is the active ingredient in chili peppers that makes them hot. Capsaicin is used in medicated creams and lotions to relieve muscle or joint pain.

Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation.

Capsaicin and diclofenac topical (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to treat joint pain, stiffness, and swelling caused by osteoarthritis of the knees. capsaicin and diclofenac may not be effective in treating arthritis pain elsewhere in the body.

Temporary relief of conjunctival congestion, itching, and minor irritation.

Used alone or in fixed combination with astringents (i.e., zinc sulfate).

Controls hyperemia in patients with superficial corneal vascularity.

Ineffective in the treatment of delayed hypersensitivity reactions such as contact dermatoconjunctivitis.

Used for vasoconstrictor effect during some ocular diagnostic procedures; phenylephrine may be preferred.
