Omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate and Rosuvastatin Sprinkle Capsules
Determining the interaction of Omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate and Rosuvastatin Sprinkle Capsules and the possibility of their joint administration.
In the database of official manuals used in the service creation an interaction registered by statistical results of studies was found, which can either lead to negative consequences for the patient health or strengthen a mutual positive effect. A doctor should be consulted to address the issue of joint drug administration.
Consumer:Taking the rosuvastatin and sodium bicarbonate doses too close together may interfere with the absorption of rosuvastatin and reduce its effectiveness. To prevent or minimize the interaction, rosuvastatin and sodium bicarbonate dosing should be separated by at least two hours. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Professional:ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Coadministration with antacids or agents with acid-neutralizing effects may reduce the oral bioavailability of rosuvastatin. The mechanism of interaction has not been established but may involve a pH-dependent reduction in drug dissolution and absorption. According to the manufacturer, a decrease in rosuvastatin plasma concentration of approximately 50% was observed during simultaneous dosing with an antacid suspension containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide. The effect was mitigated when the antacid was given two hours after the rosuvastatin dose. The clinical significance of this interaction is unknown.
MANAGEMENT: Until further data are available, patients treated with rosuvastatin should probably avoid taking antacids or oral medications that contain antacids (e.g., didanosine buffered tablets or pediatric oral solution) for at least two hours before and after administration of rosuvastatin.
